South Carolina Workers' Compensation Insurance System Overview
Learn the ins and outs of how insurance companies operate in South Carolina. This module covers the technical aspects of insurance in South Carolina including how insurance underwriters determine the premium employers pay and what factors drive up the cost of a workers' compensation insurance policy.  
LEGAL MODULE ONE: South Carolina Workers Compensation Legal System
In this module, you will learn about defenses that can be utilized when denying a workers' compensation claim in South Carolina. The defenses discussed will include the intoxication defense, the going and coming defense, the statute of limitations defense, misrepresentation in the application for employment defense, and the notice defense.  
LEGAL MODULE TWO: Defenses to South Carolina Workers' Compensation Claims
In the second Module, a brief but thorough explanation of the extremely important issue of Motions for Medical and Temporary Benefits (Motions for "Med and Temp") is provided. This Module explains the requirements and timelines adjusters must follow as well as the nature and entitlement to medical benefits and tools needed to avoid litigation if possible. Also addressed are the multiple defenses available to the New Jersey Employer, the elements needed to assert these defenses, and the case law illustrating how these defenses can be properly asserted.  
LEGAL MODULE THREE: Practical Aspects of Claims Handling and How the South Carolina Workers' Compensation System Functions
In this module, you will learn when temporary total benefits must be started and how and when temporary total benefits can be suspended or terminated. An explanation of how claims can be closed or settled will also be provided in this module. Finally, this module will cover how informal conferences, hearings, and appeals are handled in the South Carolina Workers' Compensation System.  
LEGAL MODULE FOUR: Case Law and Legislative Updates for the South Carolina Workers' Compensation System
This live or recorded Webinar provides case law updates on recent South Carolina Supreme Court and South Carolina Court of Appeals cases involving workers' compensation claims. Any legislative or regulation changes to the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Act will also be covered.
