Learn the ins and outs of how insurance companies operate in Missouri. This module covers the technical aspects of insurance in Missouri including how insurance underwriters determine the premium employers pay and what factors drive up the cost of a workers' compensation insurance policy.  

Legal Module 1: Overview of the Missouri Workers' Compensation Legal System
This module provides a broad understanding of the Missouri Workers' Compensation including employee and employer status, covered injuries, occupational diseases and calculating benefits. Uncover the various rules on employee and employer notice requirements, subrogation rights and time limitations, and penalties for noncompliance. You will also learn the basic administrative procedures, including the process for preliminary hearings, regular hearings, and appeals, as well as learn where to locate the approved medical fee schedule and certain required forms.  

Legal Module 2: Key Legal Issues in Missouri Workers Compensation - Part I
In this module, you will learn some of the more specific and common issues litigated in Missouri Workers' Compensation cases including whether an injury "arises out of and in the course of employment," compensability of preexisting conditions (including idiopathic injuries), calculating the date of accident in repetitive-use injury cases, occupational diseases, and disability compensation.  

Legal Module 3 - Key Legal Issues in Missouri Workers' Compensation - Part II
In Missouri, employers have various defenses available to a worker's allegations of a compensable claim. This module provides an examination of certain statutory defenses including an employee's willful failure to use safety equipment and an employee's use of alcohol or drugs. This module will also examine rules regarding the admissibility of evidence in Missouri Workers' Compensation proceedings.

This live or recorded Webinar provides updated information on new Missouri Supreme Court cases, Missouri Board of Appeals decisions and relevant legislative changes.
