Indiana Worker's Compensation Insurance System Overview
Learn the ins and outs of how insurance companies operate in Indiana. This module covers the technical aspects of insurance in Indiana including how insurance underwriters determine the premium employers pay and what factors drive up the cost of a workers' compensation insurance policy.
LEGAL MODULE ONE: AN OVERVIEW OF INDIANA WORKER'S COMPENSATION LEGAL SYSTEM (The Basics)
This module will give you an overview of who is covered under the Worker's Compensation Act and the five (5) basic elements of compensability. We will also discuss reporting and injury and providing medical care to employees. Lastly, instruction will be given as to how to properly calculate disability benefits, waiting periods and the use of the appropriate forms as required by the Worker's Compensation Board of Indiana.
LEGAL MODULE TWO: AN OVERVIEW OF INDIANA WORKER'S COMPENSATION SYSTEM (INTERMEDIATE LEVEL)
Learn the available defenses to an Indiana Worker's Compensation claim using the statutory affirmative defenses as well as defenses available to confront the five (5) basic elements of compensability. We will next discuss the requirements and issues related to Board appointed independent medical examinations and direction of medical care. We will then discuss considerations involved in settling a claim including the pros and cons of various types of settlements.
LEGAL MODULE THREE: AN OVERVIEW OF INDIANA WORKER'S COMPENSATION SYSTEM (ADVANCED LEVEL)
This module will deal with a variety of advanced issues including burdens of proof and evaluations of permanent total disability claims. We will also analyze death benefit claims and who is a "dependant" under the Act. Lastly, we will deal with various unique Indiana litigation issues which include our subrogation and apportionment statutes, the multiple digit loss calculations, the appeal process and vocational rehabilitation.
LEGAL MODULE FOUR: INDIANA WORKER'S COMPENSATION SYSTEM UPDATE
This recorded Webinar provides updated information on case law developments by the Indiana Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. Also, any statutory changes to the Indiana Worker's Compensation Act will be detailed as well. Lastly, you will be apprised of any emerging trends in the litigation process, rulings from single hearing members as well as the Full Board and any administrative directives handed down by the Board.
